our process

Seven stages from first conversation to life after.

You don't need to know which kind of deal you want. You need to know what you want your life to look like after the sale. We build the path from here to there.

Conversation

No deck, no funnel. Owners usually reach out one to three years before they want to sell, or right after an unsolicited offer shows up. Introductions come from CPAs, attorneys, wealth advisors and other owners.

Your life after

We start with the question most advisors skip: what do you plan to do with your life after?

Then we get to the business goals: the number, the timing, your role after closing, your family, your employees and your legacy. If you and the business want different things, it's better to find out now.

Options

There are three real paths.

Keep building

Stay independent, grow your value, and revisit later.

Take some chips off the table

Bring in a partner, recapitalize or get partial liquidity.

Exit

Sell to a strategic or financial buyer, or transition to management or family.

We'll tell you which path fits before you spend a year on the wrong one. Sometimes the answer is "not yet."

Value architecture

Using our ExitGrid framework, we build the business to be valuable to a buyer, not just to you.

We also find out what strategic and financial acquirers in your sector actually pay premiums for, and position the company to match.

where we focus

  • owner dependence
  • recurring revenue
  • customer concentration
  • management depth
  • clean financials and KPIs
  • diligence readiness

The right team

Your advisors should be picked around your goals, not the other way around. We help you choose and prepare your CPA, M&A attorney, wealth and estate planners, and your banker when it's time. Then we keep everyone working from one plan.

In your corner

When you go to market, we stay on your side of the table. We coach you through the decisions, prepare you for management meetings and diligence, and help you avoid giving up terms under pressure.

The terms you accept under pressure are the terms you live with for years.

After the wire

A good outcome works for you, your family, your team and the buyer.

And there's a life after the wire hits. We've been through exits ourselves, so working through what comes next is part of the job.

how we think about it

An offer is not the goal. A deal you’ll be glad you made is.

Tell us where the business is and where you want to be. We'll tell you plainly what we see.
